Edge Project

Edge Assignment

I took a picture of The Chico State Boilers to capture an appealing pattern from my walk home. This image consists of how we used Photoshop to create a black and white image using the Black and White filter in Photoshop, burned the image using the burn tool along with a mask, and we used levels to adjust the image to fit the quality better.

For this assignment, the students were required to take a picture with the subject along the edge of the photo. We were to use things like leading lines, bright areas, and other things to make to subject of the photo stand out to let the viewer understand the objective of the photo with just a quick glance over at the photo.

What I was trying to do was to capture the light leading upwards because I thought it looked pretty cool at the time.

For this project, I was trying my best to utilize leading lines. It was something that I thought would be the easiest to use at the time. It would have to be these leading lines that make this image visually compelling.

The focal point of this image would be the boiler itself.

The focal point of this image is the in the center of the image.

I felt that I have achieved what I wanted to achieve for this project to get the viewer's eyes to focus on the focal point by using the leading lines that the lights had to offer.

The problems that I am seeing in this image would most likely be how I took the image in the dark. I did not solved the issue, but I was able to balance out the image. For this project, I did not use any post-processing Photoshop procedure. I was not too familiar with how Photoshop worked at the time, but I believe that increasing the color saturation could have proved beneficial.
